Green Book (2018) with discussion

With a recent increase in the media about Black Lives Matter, this screening of Green Book, the 2018 Best Picture Oscar® winner, launches the Strand's new Global Film Club. The screening will be accompanied by a discussion surrounding the themes and legacy of the film.

A working-class, Italian-American bouncer becomes chauffeur for an African-American classical pianist on his concert tour.

Set against the backdrop of a country grappling with the Civil Rights Movement, Green Book was inspired by a true friendship that transcended race, class and the 1962 Mason-Dixon line.

In advance of this event, on Friday 24th July at 8pm there will be a live broadcast hosted by Join Her Network about celebrating of cultures in Northern Ireland – free to watch.
