Home Project Small Worlds

The annual Home Project in association with Terra Nova Productions offers 4 emerging artists living in Belfast the chance to take part in a mentorship programme focusing on developing their practice as intercultural artists.

As a part of this project the artists get the opportunity to work with east Belfast based community groups to discuss diversity with the aim of creating a new art piece inspired by the stories and thoughts of those participants.

This year our artists have created four unique art pieces in visual art and dance which explore the theme of Small Worlds, asking the question, what does your world encompass?  This exciting exhibition of visual art and dance will be followed by a post show discussion on the themes that this project addresses.

Six weekly workshops

Neal Campbell is a professional photographer based in East Belfast.  Neal and his wife Kristi run Campbell Photography (www.campbellphotography.co.uk), a successful documentary wedding and event photography business.

Neal is also an experienced fine art photographer, specialising in street and social documentary photography.  In his fine art practice, Neal primarily uses film cameras and is passionate about keeping traditional film photography skills alive. He develops his film and prints his work in his darkroom at Vault Artist Studios.

This workshop is for beginners and people with an amateur interest in digital photography and will look at; fundamentals of photography, simple photo editing, film photography, dark room work and creative technique.  The workshop begins on Tuesday 7th May and runs for six consecutive weeks until Tuesday 4th June.

Workshop Requirements:  To get the most from this course, it would be helpful if participants have access to a DSLR camera, or a digital camera that allows manual control of settings.  Neal may be able to accommodate a small number of participants who do not have access to suitable equipment, but would need advance notice.  Film photography equipment will be provided by Neal for weeks 4 and 5.  The main location will be Neal's studio on the 2nd floor of Vault Artist Studios.

**As this building does not have a lift, this course may not be suitable for individuals with limited mobility.
